Richard Bush of The A’s at the Hot Club, ca. early 1978. After signing to Arista and releasing an album that received heavy play on local radio, The A’s won over a mainstream audience. But in their earliest days, they sought acceptance in the new wave scene, helped by their managers Steve Apple and Bob Chipetz, original booking agents for the Hot Club. Bush had recorded as a teenager in 1960s projects such as Jellow Buzzard, and later played with The Reds’ Bruce Cohen in a local band called The Tubes. Today Bush still performs, fronting The Peace Creeps.
