The SPACE Art Gallery proudly welcomes Philadelphia-based photographer Chris Hytha with his acclaimed visual projects: Rowhomes and Highrises.
Chris Hytha, a Drexel University architecture graduate, brings a designer’s eye and an artist’s soul to his work. After three years as a professional designer at Ewing Cole, Chris stepped away from the corporate world to fully commit to a creative journey that blends photography and urban storytelling.
Chris gained international notoriety with his Highrises series, showcasing 200 soaring historic skyscrapers across the country captured by drone and presented with bold architectural reverence. Each image in this series is a monument to the craftsmanship of America’s golden era of Art Deco vertical ambition. He presented these photographs in a book by the same name, which has so far sold out its second printing. In this show Chris is presenting the images in limited editions of bold saturations on matte rag in larger sizes.
And, debuting at The SPACE ART Gallery, Chris is showing his fine art Rowhomes series; a love letter to Philadelphia’s iconic housing typology—narrow, enduring, and deeply diverse. Captured through meticulous composites, each home is stripped of modern visual noise—power lines, cars, neighboring structures—to isolate and celebrate the individuality and aging beauty of these 100+ year-old homes.
Chris’ visual storytelling goes beyond documentation. His work reframes the cityscape through clarity, elevation, and emotion. Join us in celebrating the architectural spirit of our cities—one brick, one cornice, one view at a time.
